Hack for LA – UX Researcher, Open Community Survey project
Challenge: The Open Community Survey team is conducting a comparative analysis of the websites of all 99 Los Angeles neighborhood councils. As part of this project, Hack for LA volunteers reviewed the websites and entered their findings into a spreadsheet. Upon analysis of the results, it turned out that in many cases data was inconsistent. We decided to conduct a usability test on the spreadsheet to identify the most common sources of confusion that might lead to inconsistent data.
How I helped: Conducted usability tests with team, identified patterns & provided recommendations with other UX researcher
Solution: List of recommended changes to improve the usability of the spreadsheet and consistency of data collected
People involved: Hack for LA Executive Director, product managers, other UX researchers, project team
